Margaret M. Hallberg KANE Margaret M. Hallberg, 94, died after a brief illness, onSaturday (March 28, 2015) at the Lutheran Home at Kane. Born February 27, 1921, in Kane, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Sophie Hackenberg Detrick. She was married, in Kane, to Wayne Harold Hallberg who preceded her in death. Mrs. Hallberg , a graduate of Kane High School, had been employed at various places including Houston Electronics. She was a member of Emmanuel Mission Church and a life-long member of Mountain Grange #1307. Margaret served as a volunteer at the Lutheran Home at Kane and the Meals on Wheels program. She also was a reading tutor at the Kane Elementary School. She enjoyed church, visiting friends and relatives, the grange, quilting and coffee. Surviving are a son, David E. (Lynnette) Hallberg of Naples, FL; a daughter, Sally (Frank) Alcorn of Franklin; a sister, Kathryn Detrick Fleeger of Kane; 10 grandchildren, Donald, Ronald, Dennis, David, Michael, Sandra, Susan, Sally, Frank and Travis; 25 great grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a loyal friend, Kris Moore. Preceding her in death, in addition to her husband and parents, were a daughter and son-in-law Frances Dale Hallberg Johnson and James Johnson; a grandson, Aaron Patrick Hallberg; a granddaughter, Sherry Johnson; and a brother, Francis Detrick. Friends will be received at the Cummings Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday from 2-4:00 p.m. and 7-9:00 p.m. where funeral services with the Rev. W. Craig Smith officiating, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Lebanon Lutheran Cemetery in Kanesholm. Memorial donations may be made to Emmanuel Mission Church, 102 Biddle St., Kane or Pennies From Heaven (in care of Cummings Funeral Home, Inc.)
