JoAnn "Tuby" Dodrill, 79, of 15 South Edgar Street, Kane, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday afternoon, November 15, 2014 at her residence.
Born January 3, 1935 in Wellsburg, W.Va., she was the daughter of Vernon M. and Blanche E. McCracken Simpson. On June 1, 1957 in Wellsburg, she married Fredric M. Dodrill, who died in 2006.
A graduated of West Liberty College, she became a dental hygienist, then received her teacher's certificate and taught elementary school, all in Wellsburg. Later, she received her B.S. in Education from Clarion University, was head of oral hygiene at Warren Dental Arts, and retired as a substitute teacher.
JoAnn was a member of the New Beginnings Assembly of God in East Kane.
She is survived by three daughters, Jennifer (Peter) Jerman of Burton, Ohio, Julie (Joe) Szymanski of Kane and Jill (Elias) Vuckovich of Johnstown; two brothers, William Simpson in Florida and Vernon Simpson of Cincinnati, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Erica (Jay) Stewart, Sarah (Robert) Mast, Kenneth (Monica) Todd, Joseph (Liz) Szymanski, Jacqueline (Ian) Shepherd, Jessica Szymanski, Ashley Vuckovich and Benjamin Vuckovich; and great grandchildren Bradley, Amber, Timothy and Grace Mast; Anthony and Camille Stewart, Benjamin, Taylor, Mason and Layton Todd; and Breana, Andrew and Josie Szymanski.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her husband and parents, are brothers John and Robert Simpson.
Friends may call at the Ronald McDonald II Funeral Home, Inc. in Kane on Thursday from 1:00 until 2:00, at which time a service will be held there with the rev. Rich and Mrs. Heather Glogau officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Kane.
